serve/server.py is now 69 lines — app factory, middleware, and router
registration only.

88 new regression tests in tests/serve/ cover auth guards and key
behaviours for every router; 294 total passing after the split.
The 285-line _HTML string literal in edit/server.py is replaced by a
template file loaded at request time. The route handler is unchanged in
behaviour — it still substitutes __SITE_URL__, __SPORT_OPTIONS__, and
__STAT_CHECKBOXES__ before returning the response.
Five new tests cover: 200 response, form presence, site_url injection,
no unresolved placeholders, and template file existence on disk.
test_writer: _dummy_metrics() and test_build_summary_required_fields were
missing np_power_w=None after the field was added to ComputedMetrics.
test_metrics: the leading-zero elevation heuristic fired on a single 0.0
start value, incorrectly skipping the first legitimate elevation step.
Guard now requires at least 2 consecutive near-zero leading values before
activating the Apple Watch lock-acquisition workaround.
ALLOWED_IMAGE_TYPES, MAX_IMAGE_BYTES, and unique_image_name() were
duplicated identically in both the edit and serve servers. Centralising
them means a single change point for any future extension (e.g. adding
image/avif support).
Tests added in tests/test_shared_images.py cover no-collision, single
and chained collisions, no-suffix filenames, and constant values.
- dem.py: pre-smooth elevation with 30s moving average before hysteresis
in recalculate_elevation_hysteresis(); thresholds drop from 5m/10m to
1m (barometric) / 3m (GPS) — accurate after noise is smoothed out
- dem.py: widen DEM median-filter window 45s → 60s
- dem.py: rename response key source → altitude_source for consistency
- writer.py: write altitude_source into detail JSON at extract time
- tests/test_dem.py: 21 unit tests for pure functions and file-level hysteresis
- tests/test_edit_server.py: 11 TestClient API tests for both recalculate endpoints
- add httpx as dev dependency (required by FastAPI TestClient)
GPS jitter and barometric quantization noise caused systematic overestimation
of elevation gain — in extreme cases 100% of reported gain was sub-1m noise.
Implements source-aware hysteresis: elevation is only committed when it
deviates from the last committed value by ≥5m (barometric) or ≥10m (GPS/GPX/TCX).
- ParsedActivity gains `altitude_source` field ("barometric"/"gps"/"unknown")
- FIT parser sets "barometric" when enhanced_altitude is present, else "gps"
- GPX and TCX parsers always set "gps"
- metrics._elevation() uses the threshold matching the source
- 5 new parametric tests covering flat GPS noise, threshold differences, and real climbs
merge_all/_merged/index.json is now a shard manifest; activities are
split into index-{year}.json files. The feed loads only the most-recent
year on first paint (~200 activities instead of all of them). Older
years are fetched lazily when the user clicks "Load older activities".
Also strips best_efforts / best_climb_m / source from shard files —
these fields are aggregation inputs only, never read by the feed UI.
- bincio/render/merge.py: parse sidecar .md files (YAML frontmatter +
markdown body), produce data/_merged/ with symlinks for unmodified
activities and real merged files for overridden ones; filters private
activities from index.json; sorts highlighted activities first.
Keeps extracted data pristine — re-running extract never clobbers edits.
- bincio/edit/: FastAPI edit server (port 4041) with embedded HTML/JS
edit UI; GET/POST /api/activity/{id} reads/writes sidecars; multipart
image upload to edits/images/{id}/; DELETE for image cleanup.
- bincio render now calls merge_all() before build/serve and symlinks
public/data → data/_merged/ instead of data/ directly.
- ActivityDetail.svelte: edit button (links to edit server) when
PUBLIC_EDIT_URL env var is set; respects custom.hide_stats to suppress
stat panels; description supports whitespace-preserving rendering.
- 15 unit tests covering parse_sidecar, apply_sidecar, and merge_all.
